Shellsburg Public Library recently received a beautiful Diamond Dots artwork created by Gerry Ries of Vinton, formerly of the Shellsburg area.
Diamond Dots art is created by placing tiny, faceted resin “diamonds” onto a pre-printed, adhesive canvas, forming a shimmering mosaic image. The process is similar to paint-by-number, but with added sparkle and dimension.
Library staff were thrilled when Ries reached out to Library Director Marge McDonald to ask if the library would be interested in displaying one of her creations. The answer was an enthusiastic yes.
The framed artwork now hangs proudly behind the library’s reception desk, where visitors can enjoy it. The framing was generously donated by Marge McDonald along with another anonymous Shellsburg donor.
The Shellsburg Public Library invites the community to stop by and see this stunning piece in person. If you know Gerry Ries, please be sure to let her know how much her artwork is appreciated.
