The Benton County Historic Preservation Commission is pleased to announce the launch of its 2026 K–12 Art Contest, inviting students across Benton County to celebrate the nation’s birthday through original artwork. The contest encourages young people to explore themes of history, heritage, and community while expressing what the nation’s birthday means to them.
The contest is open to all students in Kindergarten through 12th gradewho reside in or attend school in Benton County. Students may submit an original drawing inspired by historical events, historic sites or buildings, community traditions, or family celebrations. All artistic styles are welcome.

Entries will be evaluated on creativity, originality, clarity of expression, and connection to the theme. Selected works may be showcased as part of Benton County’s celebration of the nation’s birthday.
“This contest is a wonderful opportunity for students to reflect on our shared heritage and contribute their voices to a meaningful community tradition,” said representatives of the Benton County Historic Preservation Commission. “We look forward to seeing the thoughtful and inspiring artwork created by young people across the county.”

Entries must be postmarked by May 15.
Drop-Off Submissions:
Artwork may be delivered to the safety officer at the same address, Monday–Friday, through May 15.

Digital entries may be submitted as a zipped file or as a link to Google Drive or another shared drive.
