News : Pettengill to seek fifth term in Iowa House

MOUNT AUBURN – Rep. Dawn Pettengill (R-Mount Auburn) announced today that she will be seeking re-election to the Iowa House in the newly-redistricted district 75. This new area includes all of Benton County and portions of northern Iowa County.

Pettengill, who is seeking her fifth term, has taken on several leadership roles during her tenure in the House. Currently she sits on the House Commerce, Government Oversight, State Government and Ways and Means Committees. Additionally, she is the Co-Chair of the Public Retirement Systems Committee and the Vice Chair of the Administrative Rules Review Committee.

“The time for reining in big government and out-of-control spending has come. Our focus should be on jobs and the economy,” said Pettengill. “We can get Iowa’s economy moving forward again with innovative ideas to remove burdensome regulations for main street businesses, be efficient with the taxpayers’ money and get government out of the way. This is what I will continue working towards.”

Prior to serving in the Legislature, Pettengill served as a city councilwoman and mayor. She is active in her community through her work as an advisor with the Mount Auburn Youth Council and the Vinton Lions Club. She has been named a Friend of Agriculture by the Iowa Farm Bureau and has a 100 percent voting record with the Iowa Association of Business and Industry.

“Rural Iowa is unmatched in its abundance of kind neighbors, beautiful small towns and hardworking Iowans. It is what makes our state truly great. I am blessed to enjoy it firsthand and will continue doing all I can to preserve our superior way of life,” said Pettengill.

Pettengill has two grown sons and one granddaughter.
