News : Homecoming continues with painting of parking lot; parade tonight

Heather Kalous walked into the Vinton-Shellsburg High School office this morning with Cars slippers and a matching red sleeper. It's part the Thursday tradition at VSHS, where seniors dress in togas and the rest of the students and staff (at least those who want to) come to school in pajamas.

On Wednesday, the traditional painting of the parking lot took place. Tonight is the parade, followed by the rally at the football field, where the King and Queen will be crowned and the junior girls will challenge the senior girls in the annual Powder Puff football game.

Thursday, September 20 --

6:00 p.m. -- Homecoming Parade starting at B Avenue taking 4th Street east to 2nd Avenue, south to 21st Street, west to Karr Athletic Compex
7:00 p.m. -- Community-wide Pep Rally including Coronation Ceremony and Power Puff Football game

Friday, September 21 --

5:00 p.m. -- Sophomore football vs. Independence
7:00 p.m. -- Pre-game activities to include Cross Country Team running game ball in from Independence; Middle School band performing National Anthem
7:30 p.m. -- Varisty football vs. Independence
8:30 p.m. -- 2012 Hall of Fame Induction (half-time of varsity game)
9:00 p.m. -- Hall of Fame reception at Vinton Country Club. Please join us after the game to welcome our new Hall of Fame Inductees --
