On Thursday November 8, 2012, at 7:00pm, we held our annual FFA Pork BBQ. At this, parents, grandparents, guests, and community members attended.

We started out night by having our dinner or “Pork BBQ” for everyone in the lunchroom.

After this we continued our night in the auditorium.

To start, the officers got to make a “grand entrance”, running down the aisles and gathering as a team on stage. We had our opening ceremony, Secretary and Treasurers report, and then Committee reports.

In our committee reports, Caleb Svoboda talked about livestock and horse judging and Hannah Seitz talked about what the members that attended greenhand fire up did.

Then Caleb Svoboda, John Eden, Dillon Brummer, Riley Ries, and Kyle Henkle each talked about a day of what we did at National Convention last month. That was followed by a powerpoint of pictures of our trip by Emily Cashman.

Next in our meeting we discussed Chapter Development. Co-Reporters, Karley Kenney and Emily Cashman talked about our chapters theme and goals; the theme being, Experience our Emblems. Blaik Cooper talked about our garden group and how that went this summer and Timothy Houtchens and Dawne Schminke talked about our crop plot; saying what we did and thanking Kyle Schminke for all his help. To end the committee reports Dillon Brummer talked about and updated everyone on our Holiday sales we had going on.

We then preceded to Community Development. In community development, John Eden talked about Farm Safety day that we had back in September. Sharing what we did and what the kids that showed up learned about. Caleb Svoboda talked about the many yield checks that some of our members have gone on this year and Jacob Patrilla talked about Holiday Lights and Roping that members helped hang up downtown a few weeks ago.

To finish up community development, Emily Cashman and Dawne Schminke talked about our chapter website, facebook, and twitter accounts that people can stay updated on.

We then had the La-Porte-Dysart FFA chapter officers award our Greenhand and Chapter Farmer degrees. Members receiving the Greenhand Degree this year include the following. Jessica Alderson, Stephanie Auen, Tiffany Auen, Paige Bervid, Amanda Burkey, Navon Dunlap, Cole Emrich, Mike Harris, Shania Heckmann, Steven Henry Jr., Kaitlin Isbell, Daisy Johnson, Lucas Kalina, Krystal Knight, Connor Matt, Austin Breck-Miller, Sadie Novotny, Rachel Nugent, Bastian Primmer, Emily Reisch, Timothy Reynolds, Meranda Saders, Hannah Seitz, Joshua Shafar, Hunter Smith, Bradley Patrick Vileta, Sydney Walker, and Keri Webster.

The Creed  was then presented by six of our Greenhands, being, Jessica Alderson, Daisy Johnson, Timothy Reynolds, Sydney Walker, Amanda Burkey, and Bradley Vileta. We then had our Chapter Farmer Degree ceremony presented as well by the La-Porte-Dysart FFA chapter. These recipients were, Emily Cashman, Blaik Cooper, Kirra Darling, Deion Dulin, Seth Dulin, John Eden, Karys Lillie, Ashtyn Plower, Riley Ries, Keaton Robb, Logan Salger, Dawne Schmike, and Melody Sedlacek. After all of those members received their awards, we had our guest speaker, Nolan Zumbach speak. He gave a very nice speech about who we are and how important farming and farmers are. We then had our Advisor speak for a while about things and ended our Pork BBQ with closing ceremony. Overall it was a very good turnout, and a very good night.
