Young children hugged Santa, rang his hand bell, posed for photos with him and even tried to take his picture during the annual Kiwanis Christmas dinner Tuesday at The Pizza Ranch.

More than 20 students from Tilford enjoyed lunch with the Kiwanis before Santa arrived with a gift for each. The children then assembled Transformers, learned how to drive a radio-controlled truck, cuddled with dolls, invited Kiwanis members to kiss their stuffed animals and played with the toys they had received.

The club has been inviting Santa to such events each December for well over 30 years. In addition to the lunch, the club members also joined Santa in visiting Shellsburg Elementary as well as taking gifts to a few students at Tilford.
