News : Vinton police investigate accident near courthouse

Ambulance personnel treat a child for injuries while police investigate this two-vehicle accident.

A two-vehicle accident near the Benton County Courthouse injured a 4-year-old child Monday.

The Vinton Police Department and the North Benton Ambulance Service were sent to the intersection of Third Street and First Avenue at around noon. Witnesses say a woman driving a sedan ran the stop sign and collided with a minivan. A child in the van reportedly suffered injuries to the head.

The accident remains under investigation.
