News : Yedliks honored as 2013 Party in the Park Grand Marshals

The Party in the Park Committee has picked their Grand Marshals for this year’s festival and they didn’t have to go too far to reach them. The committee has selected Chuck & Marilyn Yedlik for their support not only to the festival but for their ongoing promotion of our community.

Chuck’s family moved here in 1961 and Marilyn has been a Vinton resident her whole life. The two high school sweethearts were married in 1972. Chuck worked at the local John Deere store prior to launching his career in farming, while Marilyn was an RN and school nurse for the Vinton School District up to her retirement.

The couple has two children, Sara and Carrie; both are married and also live in the Vinton community. They have four grandchildren who keep them busy attending their activities year round. Chuck ad Marilyn stated “We are proud of Vinton and how they strive to meet the needs of the people that have chosen this community to be their home.”

Chuck has been involved with fireworks since childhood and in 1991 he started to put together shows starting with a private show on the farm. The Bar Y Pyro’s have added technology to their shows that is second to none and now provide shows that light up the skies to choreographed music at many celebrations and community events around Iowa.

The Party in the Park Celebration is very thankful not only for the great shows on Saturday night that are discounted at a rate of thousands of dollars annually but also a few years back, the Yedliks’ helped the community add a Friday night show and have donated that show each year. Director of Parks & Recreation, Duane Randall proclaimed” Party in the Park has developed in to one of the great Iowa community festivals and this wouldn’t be possible without the great support of Chuck & Marilyn Yedlik and the Bar Y Pyro’s. Their crew takes these shows to heart and put up a great display of fireworks to music on both nights that have our community talking for weeks. Our community should be very thankful for the time and efforts that these great community minded people, I know we are here at the Parks & Recreation Department.”

The Parks & Recreation Department not just thankful for the support of Party in the Park but recently have given generously to the new Celebration Park. The Yedlik’s are always there for our community, no matter what the cause. In 2007, Chuck brought the Iowa Pyrotechnics Association to Vinton to give the hobbyist a chance to show off their hard work making and shooting fireworks. The rest is history, it is now called “Boomtown” and has become one of the largest shows in the state.

This is one couple that Vinton should be very proud of and ecstatic that they decided to stay in Vinton and make it a better place for all of us. Congratulations to Chuck & Marilyn Yedlik, Grand Marshals, Vinton Party in the Park, 2013!
