News : Hesco flood barriers begin to come down

Crews have begun removing the Hesco flood barriers.

Using a large metal bar and an end-loader, crews from VMEU and the City of Vinton have begun removing the Hesco flood barriers from around the fire station.

The barriers will remain outside for a short time to allow the moisture from the sand to dry. Virtually all of them can be reused for future flood events.

VMEU purchased the barriers with funds from FEMA as part of its flood mitigation plan.
