Barbara June (Geiken) Cassens, 82, of Marshalltown, Iowa, (formerly Vinton, Iowa) died on January 24, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen S. Kubik, 74, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness. To honor her wishes, she was cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Oak Grove Church in Shellsburg with Pastor Matt Magee officiating. Friends may register from 9 until service time. Lewis Waldo Newell, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020, at Colonial Manor in Amana.His body has been donated to the University of Iowa for anatomical study. Beverly (Bev) Winkie, 86, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, Iowa.Bev was born August 11, 1933, to John and Bertha (Janssen) Kraft in rural Chickasaw County, Iowa. She graduated from Ionia High School, Ionia, Iowa, in 1951. Janice Clair Shogren, 86, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at her home. Jan was born Dec. 21, 1933, to Arnold and Madonna (Peters) Vollstedt in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs in 1952. She attended Iowa State University before transferring to Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, receiving her teaching certificate and later receiving her bachelor's degree in education.

Darwin Robert Selk, 84, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospice in Cedar Rapids.Funeral services will be 10:30 Saturday, January 18, 2020 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Garrison with Pastor Mark Leckband officiating. Visitation will be at the church an hour before services on Saturday. Carol Overbey, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A private celebration of Carol’s life will be held.Carol was born on December 23, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Millard “Bud” and Analah (Huntley) McCann. Carol worked as a Registered Nurse at several care centers during her nursing career.
