John Walter “Jack” Bantz

John Walter “Jack” Bantz was born on March 11, 1943 to Franklin Gale and Maxine (Kelley) Bantz.  Jack passed away peacefully at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City surrounded by family.Jack met his wife, Carol Land, in Long Beach, CA where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy.  They were married on August 14, 1965 and two sons were born from their union, John (Julie) Bantz of Indianola, IA and Joe (Laura) Bantz of Cedar Rapids, IA.

 John M. Seeck, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center.Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating.  Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday February 21, 2020 at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.

Valetta Mae Lenaburg

Rosemary Teresa Rayman, 91, of Elberon, IA passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Vinton Lutheran Home, Vinton, IA.Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, IA with Father Dwayne Thoman and Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Harold J. Walitshek

Harold J. Walitshek, 79, of Waterloo, died Monday, February 10, at NorthCrest Specialty Care. He was born August 22, 1940, outside of Jesup, the son of George and Caroline Nelson Walitshek. He married Lois Ferrie May 5, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waterloo. She died June 1, 2001. Harold graduated from Jesup High School in 1958, and was employed by John Deere as a machinist for 33 years before retiring in 1992.

Michael Joseph Fleck

Michael Joseph Fleck, age 72, of Vinton, formerly of the Quad Cities, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.The family will greet friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton.  Private family interment will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.

Kenneth Joseph Huelman

Ken Huelman, 73, died Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines after an extended illness.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Jim Brokman as Celebrant.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to mass at church on Saturday.

Wayne Thomas Newton

Wayne Thomas Newton, 84, departed this world for heaven on February 4, 2020 at his home in Blairstown. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown with the Rev. Jeffrey Schanbacher officiating.  Burial will follow the funeral service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown with military honors by the M.

Doris “Joann” Felker

Doris “Joann” Felker, age 86, died Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Vinton Lutheran Home.  Private Family Services will be held at a later date.“Joann” was born on April 1, 1933, the daughter of Vernon and Dorothy (Gray) Kisling, and graduated from Urbana High School. On February 14, 1952, she was united in marriage to Donald Felker at the Urbana Christian Church.
