Sharon K. (Haley) Swehla, age 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.Due to Covid-19 restrictions, memorial services will be held at a later date, with burial at Mound Cemetery in Watkins.Sharon was born on June 9, 1947, the daughter of Frederick and Shirley (Slick) Haley. She graduated from Central City High School.

Lee E. Bossom

Lee E. Bossom, 83, of Blairstown, Iowa, formerly of Quasqueton, Iowa, died of the coronavirus on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Lee was born April 20, 1936, on the family farm in rural Plainfield, Iowa. The son of Howard E. and Margaret F. (Bryhl) Bossom, he was a graduate of Plainfield High School. He attended courses at Wartburg College and the University of Wisconsin School of Banking.

Glen Oren Thompson, 97, of Fort Dodge passed away on Wed­nes­day, April 1, 2020 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. A Cele­bra­tion Of Life for Mar­jory, who passed away November 26, 2019, and Glen will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.Glen Thompson, the son of Oren C. and Mae (Rieke) Thompson, was born on August 18, 1922, near Vinton, IA.

Helen Anderson, 93, went peacefully to be with her heavenly Father Saturday evening, March 28, 2020. She has been residing at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will held at a later date at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton.Helen was born January 28, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the only child of Edwin and Aurita Rosain.

Irene Tillie (Rohlena) Parr

Irene Tillie (Rohlena) Parr, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2020 at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids.Due to Covid-19 restrictions, private family services will be held, with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown.Irene was born on September 23, 1930, in rural Cedar Rapids to Charles & Tillie Sadie (Vavra) Rohlena.

Through faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, Margaret Thiessen was called from this life to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 29, 2020 at the age of 75.Private family services will be held, with burial at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Atkins.Margaret was born on July 14, 1944, in Vinton, IA to Louis & Cornelia Buelow.  She was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on August 13, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vinton.

Jackie Jessen, 81, died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 29, 2020.A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Vinton with Fr. JimBrokman as celebrant. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point.Jacquelyn Jeanne Mary Magdalene Chapman Jessen was born on October 29, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Richard Fredrick Sauer

Richard Fredrick Sauer, 80, of Elberon, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids unexpectedly.Richard will receive a private burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Vining, Iowa, with military honors because of current pandemic circumstances. A memorial mass will be planned for a date to be determined.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

He graduated from Shellsburg High School and Northeast Area One.
