Cedar Falls -- Bette Mayhew, Cedar Falls (formerly of Vinton, IA), was born to Harold and Lillian Beresford on December 12, 1920 in Staunton, Virginia. She spent her childhood in both Iowa and Virginia and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1939.
