VINTON – Leila M. (Noeller) Boddicker, 94 of Vinton died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at her home following a sudden illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 20, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Ardel Barta as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday also at the church. A Scripture and Rosary Service will begin at 7:30 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Vinton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Camp Courageous, Cancer Research, c/o UI Foundation, PO Box 4550, Iowa City, IA 52244 or Birthright. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Leila was born March 5, 1919 in the rural Benton City to Kuno (KK) and Clementine Owens Noeller. She attended country elementary school at SECESH and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton. Leila became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vinton on September 17, 1941 when she married Donald J. Boddicker. She enjoyed membership in the Altar and Rosary Society, a 50 plus year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Early Arts Study Club. She spent many hours volunteering for the Red Cross Blood Bank and as a Red Checker for Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.
Leila will be fondly remember for her many hours of service to her church and community and especially for her fudge, donuts, trays of cookies and beautiful crafts.
In addition to her parents and two brothers in infancy, Leila was preceded in death by her husband Donald; her two sons, Timothy Paul and Thomas Brian; her sister and brother-in-law, Maude (Mike “Ivan”) Maynard; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harley, Richard, Paul, Cato (Violet), Gale (Ruby) and Joe (Helen).
Leila is survived by her children, Major (Jan) Boddicker of LaPorte, CO, Terrye (Geo) Wiggins of Laramie, WY, Mark (Pam) Boddicker of Walker, Beth (Steve) Kozlowski and Dan (Maureen) Boddicker all of Laramie, WY, 28 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
