VINTON: Frank D. Rogers, 55 of Vinton died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at home following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Vinton with Rev. Connie Wacht officiating. Interment will be in DeWalt Pioneer Cemetery, rural Vinton with full military rites by the Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post # 57 and the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM, Wednesday at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Avenue in Vinton. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or UnityPointe Hospice.
Frank was born December 18, 1957 to Richard and Dixie Bebee Rogers at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. Frank attended school in Vinton. He worked as a stone mason, tuck pointer, industrial painter and farmed.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1980 – 1984 as a Large Engine Repairman, stationed in Hawaii.
Frank was united in marriage to Ann Pepper on February 15, 1986 at the Oak Grove Church, near Shellsburg.
In addition to his wife Ann, Frank is survived by his mother, Dixie Rogers of Central City; his brother, Zachary (Michelle) Rogers of Vinton; his sister, Melissa (Randy) Ross of Colorado and his step-brother, Kevin (Barb) Rogers of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his father, his brother John in infancy and his grandparents.
