Charles J. Krivanek, 79, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. Sixth St.) in Vinton, with Gene Spicer officiating. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.

Charles was born March 21, 1934, in Decorah to Joseph and Anna Krivanek. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Oelwein in 1953. Charles served his country in the United States Air Force.

On Nov. 4, 1967, he was united in marriage to Juanita Koehn at St. Pius Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Charles worked as a sales representative for Kraft Foods.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, ice fishing and pheasant, duck and deer hunting.

Charles is survived by his wife, Juanita “Dolly” Wenner Krivanek of Vinton; his stepdaughter, Kathy Dennis of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Valerie Dennis of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Jason Dennis of Cedar Rapids; and his sister, Patricia Hinton of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Shirley Cole.
