Gordon L. West, 55, of Brandon, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at his home.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Brandon, Iowa, with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Burial will be in Brandon Cemetery in Brandon. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m.until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.

He was born on June 27, 1958, in Independence, Iowa, the son of William LeRoy and Georgia Fay (Rouse) West. He graduated from high school inIndependence, Iowa, and attended Hawkeye Technical Institute in Waterloo, Iowa. Mr. West was a construction carpenter until he was forced to retire due to his health. He married the former Diana Lynne Winsor in 1979 in Vinton, Iowa. They later divorced. In 1984, he and the former Genevieve Louise Robinson were married in Bertram, Iowa. They also divorced. He then married Kimberly Dalton in Brandon, Iowa. Mr. West was associated with the United Methodist Church in Brandon,Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with friends and working with his hands. He could build most anything if someone could describe it to him.

Mr. West is survived by his wife, Kimberly, of Oelwein, Iowa, 3 daughters, Jessi (Marty) Lee of Hills, Iowa, Erica West of Center Point, Iowa, and Katie (Jarin) Gerst of Morning Sun, Iowa, and 1 son, Joshua (Vanessa Wieck) West of Vinton, Iowa. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Glenda Westphal of Rowley, Iowa, and Gloria (Keith) Persson of Claremore, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Greg West, and 1 brother-in-law, Al Westphal.

DLH January 15, 2014, 10:28 am My older brother Donnie and I ran with Gordy in high school and after have not seen Gordy in years but Donnie would get a chance to talk to him every now and then, This is very shocking, life is to short, He is a very good guy and a lot of fun, prayers to his family and everyone who loves him.
