MT. AUBURN: Karen Roma Cole Moody, 74, entered eternal rest at her rural farm home on Thursday, January 23, 2014 with her loving family at her side.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, January 27, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Interment will be held at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery near Mt. Auburn. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. A Memorial Fund has been established.

Karen was born February 18, 1939 in Vinton to William W. and Roma A. (Wiebold) Cole. She was baptized in 1939 and confirmed in 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone by Rev. A. H. Brauer. She moved with her parents south of Mt. Auburn in 1954 and graduated from Washington High School in Vinton in 1957.

She was united in marriage to Larry J. Moody on October 4, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton. For four years the couple made their home where Larry was stationed in the U.S. Navy and then returned to Benton County and the farm.

Karen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton

She is survived by her husband, Larry of rural Mt. Auburn; her children, Patrick (Leyla), Kent (Heather), Meegan Moody-Romero (Richard), and Ryan (Laura); her grandchildren, Cole and Danson, Sydney and Spencer, and Logan, Grant and Beau; her brother, Gene (Joyce) Cole; her in-law family, Don (Shirley) Moody, Judy, wife of the late Keith Moody, and Marcia (Dave) Hite.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
