VAN HORNE: Norma Enge Louise Garbers, 96, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Van Horne with Pastor David Lingard officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery near Keystone. Friends may register at the church from 9 a.m., until service time on Thursday. A memorial fund has been established.

Norma was born November 2, 1917 in York Township of Tama County to William and Minnie (Allers) Krutzfeldt. She was Baptized November 2, 1926 and confirmed December 21, 1933 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone.

On November 24, 1937 she was united in marriage to John Garbers at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1992.

Norma was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Van Horne. As a busy farm wife and mother, she loved quilting and gardening and will be remembered as a fabulous cook.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jan and Carole Garbers of Van Horne; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Hatfield and her brother, Wilbert Krutzfeldt.
