Della Marie (Mary) Ball, age 91, a resident of Creekside at Elfindale in Springfield, MO, entered into her Heavenly home to be with her Savior on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
She was born September 5, 1922, in Vinton, IA, to Gustav and Maria ( Johansson Karlsson) Krohn who had immigrated from Sweden in 1917. Mary went to grade school in a one room school house. She attended high school in Vinton IA, graduating in 1940.
During World War II, she worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids IA, building radios for Navy Vessels. On April 25, 1943 Mary was united in marriage to Richard D. Ball from Center Point IA. After their marriage in Vinton IA, they moved to Springfield, Missouri to attend Central Bible Institute. Mary’s life work was to share the Gospel.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard D. Ball; her parents Gustav and Maria Johanna Krohn; and her special friend C.J. Greer.
She is survived by one son, Garylee (Gary) R. Ball, Jefferson City, MO; three grandchildren, James and wife Shelley of Lee's Summit, MO, Jennifer Markway and husband Jeff of Holts Summit, MO, and Jessica Geldner and husband Mike of Fulton, MO; six great-grandchildren, Yvonne, Laura, James Jr., Anna Marie, Benjamin, and Catherine; a host of relatives in Sweden, which was her heritage from both her mother and father's families; her dearest friend and Maid of Honor, Sylvia Schoonover of Vinton, IA; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Rev. Marie Day officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO.
Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help dedicate a Chapel in Mary's honor.
