Joyce L. Jackson passed away April 15, 2014. She was born September 17, 1926 in Wood Center (near Edgewood) Iowa to parents Otto and Floy (Rause) Appleton. She attended Iowa State Teacher’s College and became a Kindergarten teacher in Vinton Iowa. There she met her future husband, Ray F. Jackson. They were married August 7, 1949. She was the loving mother of two children, Jeannine and Jim. After being a stay at home Mom, she became a clerk in the Assessor’s office of the Benton County Courthouse. She retired from there in the mid 1980’s and moved to Sarasota, FL where both children resided. She was a hostess and server at Mrs. Appleton’s Buffet for many years. She is survived by daughter Jeannine Lehman (Sarasota, FL), son, James (North Port, FL), grandson Nicholas (Venice, FL) and one sister, Hope Schenke (Turlock CA). She was preceded in passing by her parents, siblings Vivian Appleton, Carrol Appleton, Randall Appleton, Faith Haines, and husband Ray Jackson. Interment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
