Obituaries : Karla Jo Jessen Sellers

Coralville—Karla Jo Jessen Sellers, 53, died peacefully of cancer Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Memorial services will be 2 pm Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Karla was born September 8, 1960, in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Teresa Loudon Jessen. She grew up in Vinton and graduated from Vinton with the Class of 1979. She attended Luther College for a year. In 1980, she married Wyndham Sellers and they later divorced. Karla was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed reading in her spare time.

She is survived by her two sons, Kenny Sellers of West Des Moines and Mitchel Sellers of Urbandale; one brother, Kevin (Buffy) Jessen of Shellsburg, and one sister, Cindy (Tom) Lynch of Guttenberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family asks that people donate blood to the American Red Cross as a memorial to Karla.
