VINTON:

Abby Lavon Lee, 84, of Hockley, TX, formerly of Vinton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Villa Toscana in Houston, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) Vinton with Pastor Jesse Henkle officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery Vinton. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. A Memorial Fund has been established for Heart to Heart Hospice. Abby Lavon Zahn was born on January 22, 1930 to John Oliver and Verna (Rambo) Zahn in Shellsburg. On June 30, 1966 she was united in marriage to Robert N. Lee in Independence.

Abby worked as a "Tupperware Lady" for over 30 years and also worked at Perfex in Vinton. Her true occupation was caring for her family

She is survived by two sons, George (Cheryl) Thacker of Garrison, Roy (Tracy) Thacker of Des Moines; her daughter, Sandy (Ron) Radcliffe of Hockley, TX; her daughter-in-law Jody Lee of Citrus Heights, CA.; seven grandsons, Greg (Christina) Lee, Caleb (Kim) Thacker, Tony (Amira) Radcliffe, Matthew, David, Jacob and Liam Thacker; two granddaughters, Trish (Scott) Smith and Aubrey Thacker; six great grandchildren, Arryana, Ian, Savannah and Jackson Lee, Drew Smith and Jaina Thacker; three sisters, Mary Evens of Urbana, Clara Lint of Marengo, Hazel (Harry) Rublack of Vinton; and her brother Clarence (Esther) Zahn of Grandview, WA

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Lee in 2008; son Fred Lee; daughter Wilma Lee; five brothers, Oliver, John, Walter, Paul and Albert Zahn; and four sisters, Lois Lee, Goldie Anglin and Ruth and Dorothy Zahn in infancy.
