Orville Fish

SHELLSBURG: Orville Dean Fish, 94, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Gaston officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday. A Memorial Fund has been established.

Orville was born May 29, 1920 at Shellsburg to Rollie L. and Mamie (Nabholz) Fish On June 22, 1940 he was united in marriage to Nina Ludden at Vinton. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2014.

Orville farmed in the Shellsburg area and loved working. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dominoes, rook, and reading. Orville was a great cook and he taught Sunday School for many years. .

He is survived by his daughters, Donna (Gary) Lindsey of Vinton, and Marianna (David) Nichols of Cedar Rapids; his son, Ron (Connie) Fish of Shellsburg; nine grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; his brother, Myron (Venice) Fish of Vinton; and his sister-in-law, Cleo Fish of Waterloo.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Fish.
