Arlene Lois Wilhelmi Wear, 87, of Center Point, Iowa, died surrounded by loved ones following complications of pneumonia, Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point by Pastor Sam Dronebarger. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 1, at the funeral home. Private Burial: at a later date.

Survivors include her children, Garry (Kathy) Wilhelmi, Kathy (Sam) Dronebarger, David (Rhonda) Wilhelmi, Patti (Dean) Evans and Barbara (Tom) Hart; stepchildren, Linda Wear and Larry (Susan) Wear; grandchildren, Jennifer, Glenn, Chuck, Alex, Emily, Megan, Elliot, Molly, Rob and Davis; stepgrandchildren, Nathan, Seth and Lindsay; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dolores Rawson, David (Fran) Uthoff, Marjorie Beatty, Bertha Rhinehart and Virginia Roths; brother-in-law, Duane Bliss; and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Uthoff and Arlene Andrew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Glenn and Kenneth; and siblings, Dorothy Wittenburg, Walter Uthoff and Maxine Bliss.

Arlene was born May 2, 1927, the daughter of Henry and Florence (Vette) Uthoff, in Van Horne, Iowa. On August 14, 1948, she married Glenn Wilhelmi at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Atkins, Iowa. He died in a plane crash in 1962. Arlene married Kenneth Wear on January 16, 1967, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He passed in 2000.

Arlene was a homemaker and also worked at the Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. She enjoyed playing Granny Basketball, gardening, knitting, crafts, quilting, baking and dancing. Arlene was a member of the Alert Homemakers Club and Betty’s Grove Club. She attended Lafayette Christian Church and was strengthened by her faith through adversity and lived her faith every day.

Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or Lafayette Christian Church in memory of Arlene.
