VINTON: Vanessa D. Lipscomb, 62 of Vinton died February 25, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a sudden illness. A gathering of family and friends will be from 3 – 5 PM, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Avenue in Vinton. In accordance with her wishes, Vanessa was cremated.

Vanessa was born November 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas to Robert Dale and Lois Irene VanDettum Briscoe. She graduated from high school in Springfield, Missouri and attended Drury College also in Springfield where she received a Bachelor’s Degree.

Vanessa worked for many years as a dispatcher for ImOn Communications in Cedar Rapids. She dearly loved her dog Max, flower gardening, St. Louis Cardinals, reading, and cooking. Vanessa enjoyed her annual trips with her 'momma' to the Black Hills and especially looked forward to her Friday outings with her.

She is survived by her mother, Libby of Vinton; her longtime companion, David Walthart of Vinton; and her extended family: Linda (Arlen) Nannen of LeMars and their children Mark and Jennifer Nannen; Duane (Becky) Walthart of Vinton and their children, Natalie Walthart, and Brian (Laura) Walthart; Larry (Marlene) Walthart of Estherville, and their daughter, Melissa Walthart; Kim (Todd) Frank of Vinton and their children, Taylor and Peyton Frank; and Lori (Dean) Williams of Vinton and their children, Logan and Griffin Williams.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Dale Briscoe and their dog Charlie.
