Van Horne, IA– Sunrise: February 22, 1939. Sunset: October 3, 2015. Tom was born in Vinton, the son of Raymond and Florence (Rice) Nolan. He graduated from Van Horne High School in 1957 and from the University of Iowa, College of Business Administration, in 1961. That same year he moved to St. Louis where he served as credit manager of the St. Louis office of the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for 25 years. After taking early retirement from HUD in 1987, he went on to work an additional ten years for two mortgage companies in suburban St. Louis, retiring a second time in 1997.
Tom traveled extensively both in the U. S. and in foreign countries. He also enjoyed visiting his farm northwest of Van Horne.
A memorial mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Van Horne at 10:30am on Friday November 6, 2015 with Fr. Craig Steimel as Celebrant and burial of cremains to be held at Calvary Cemetery south of Van Horne.
