VINTON – Douglas E. Cummings, 58, of Vinton, died Monday, November 2, 2015, at Wellstar Community Hospice in Austell, Georgia, following a long illness.
A Celebration of Life service for Doug will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015, at Oak Grove Church, rural Shellsburg, with Rev. Stephen Watson and Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 22, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, Vinton. Committal services will be held at a later date.
Doug was born April 16, 1957, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of William E. and Faye C. Baldwin Cummings. He was a 1975 graduate of Washington High School in Vinton.
Doug worked as a truck driver. He worked for Associated Material, and in the 1980’s, he moved his family to Atlanta, GA, while he was working for D.C. Taylor.
Doug attended Oak Grove Church and enjoyed flower gardening and making artificial flower bouquets. He also enjoyed making jewelry.
Doug is survived by his parents, Bill and Faye Cummings of Vinton; son Brandon (Danise) Cummings of Powder Springs, GA; daughter Shaina Cummings of Powder Springs, GA; brothers Craig and Jeffrey Cummings, both of Vinton; sister Rachel (Nate) Morarie of Vinton; and 4 grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
