VINTON – Merica Grace McLeod, 97, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Arthur-Rose Assisted Living Center in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton with Rev. Dr. Judith Bunyi officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Merica was born October 6, 1918, in Anita, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Grace Jordan Galliher. She graduated from Atlantic High School and attended Simpson College for 2 years.
On December 29, 1940, she was united in marriage with Harold C. McLeod in Atlantic, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Merica worked as a secretary for the City of Sioux City. She also worked for B. Dalton Booksellers.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, knitting and gardening.
Merica is survived by three daughters: Janice McLeod of Vinton; Marilyn (James) Melville of Eagan, MN; and Barbara (Tom) Johnson of Hammond, WI; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; daughter Mary Jane Mulder; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
