KEYSTONE: Glennis D. Nissen, 84, died Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday. A memorial fund has been established.
Glennis was born February 5, 1931 in Vinton to Louis and Velma (Gulick) Selken and graduated from the Van Horne High School in 1950. She was employed at the State Bank of Vinton prior to her marriage.
On January 15, 1956 she was united in marriage to Robert Paul Nissen at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. The couple farmed and raised livestock in the Keystone area. Robert preceded her in death on March 27, 2013.
Glennis was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. She served as a 4-H Leader for twenty-eight years and belonged to the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed shopping, dancing and card clubs. Glennis loved spending time with her family, especially during the Holidays.
Glennis is survived by her children, Teri (Randy) Geiger of Keystone, Barry Nissen of Keystone; Traci (Don) Stewart of Randall and Nanci (Dave) Parizek of Vining; her grandchildren, Devan (Tony) Lyne, Bobbi (Brian) Carrillo, Kelsie (Ben) Engelken, Kevin (Briana) Stewart, Cody Stewart, Casey Stewart, and Dustin Stewart; her step-granddaughter, Makayle Parizek; her great grandchildren, Alexis and Brooklyn Lyne, and Olivia Stewart, Carson and Mia Stewart, and Grayson Engelken.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Timothy and Thomas Nissen.
Her family wants to thank the Mercy Hospital Intensive Care Staff especially Scott, and also the Staff at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House.
