BLAIRSTOWN: Lewis F. Rabe, 101 a resident of Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo died Friday, February 12, 2016. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 PM, Monday at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.

Lewis was born November 11, 1914 in Irving, Iowa to Leo and Ruth (Fisher) Rabe. He attended Camel Hump country school Southwest of Blairstown. On June 1, 1938 Lewis was united in marriage to Helen O. Pease in Cedar Rapids. They farmed together southwest of Blairstown nearly all of their married life. In 1980 they retired and moved to town. Helen preceded Lewis in death on December 5, 1997.

He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Lewis was known to be a very patient grandfather and enjoyed fishing.

Lewis is survived by his half-sister, Irene Raub of Cedar Falls; his children, Leo Rabe of Promise City, Jack (Peg) Rabe of Blairstown and Janet (David) Jones of Eagle Grove; his seven grandchildren, Lisa, Jason, Andrew, Adam, Matthew, Mark and Mimi; his fourteen great grandchildren, Stephanie, Colton, Clayton, Kaleb, Samantha, Aiden, Elijah, Alivia, Asher, Alex, Logan, Shakira, Tatianna and Shania and his one great great granddaughter, Peyton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; brother, Wayne Rabe; sister, Velma Pease; half-brother, Roy Wandling and half-sister, Rachel Selk.
