VINTON – Delores Ann Wiley Stueck, 68, died Friday, February 26, 2016, at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a brief illness with brain cancer (glioblastoma).
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 29, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Honoring Delores’ wishes, the casket will remain closed at all times.
Delores was born February 11, 1948, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Sheldon and Mildred Cottrell Wiley. She attended grade school in Brandon and graduated from Washington High School in Vinton in 1966.
On April 15, 1967, Delores was united in marriage with Larry Stueck at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne. Delores was a great help to Larry on the farm.
Delores was a homemaker while raising her children, then later worked at the Van Horne Library and in telemarketing.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton.
Delores enjoyed latch hooking and “Girls’ Day Out” with her sister-in-law Shirley to various places, including Amish country. She was an immaculate housekeeper and a tremendous cook. She baked thousands of chocolate chip cookies.
Delores is survived by her husband of 48 years, Larry Stueck, of Vinton; one son, Tim (Teri) Stueck of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Jodi (David) Patrilla of Vinton; two brothers: Ross (Shirley) Wiley of Walker and Larry (Sue) Wiley of Palo; and two grandchildren: Ryan Abernathy and Evan Stueck.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Twila Wiley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, the Vinton Family Medical Clinic Building Fund or the Vinton Lutheran Home.
