ELBERON:
Donald J. Kupka, 68, died Friday, February 26, 2016 under the care of St. Luke’s Hospice in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. There will not be a Funeral Service and Private Commital Services will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.
He was born September 6, 1947 to Bill and Eleanor Kupka in Waterloo and grew up in Clutier. He graduated from North Tama High School in Traer in 1965.
On September 14, 1968 he was united in marriage to Nancy Weaver. They celebrated forty seven years of marriage.
Heserved his nation in the U.S. Army and was a member of Kalina American Legion Post #266 in Elberon.
In his younger years he loved calf roping in rodeos with all his “roper buddies” He also loved being an auctioneer for over thirty-five years. He was a carpenter, semi driver and worked at Williamsburg Manufacturing.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Elberon; his sons, Wade (Taryn) of Denver, CO, Justin (Jennifer) of Van Horne, Drew (Brooke) of Vining; his grandchildren Austin Cassell, Troy Kupka, Eli Kupka, Hunter Kupka and Emma Kupka who he loved spending time with. Also surviving are his sister, Betty (Ron) Wagner of Marshalltown, his brothers, Duane Kupka of Elberon, Steve (Deb) of Clutier, and Michael (Tracy) of Manchester; and many nieces and one nephew.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Mary and his brother, Gary.
