Obituaries : Phoebe Sima

VINTON: Phoebe Sima, 79 of Whitestown, Indiana and formerly of Vinton died March 5, 2015 at St. Vincent’s Hospice Inpatient Care Unit in Indianapolis, Indiana. Public graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home – Vinton is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at: www.phillipsfuneralhomes.com. Phoebe was born September 15, 1936 in Cedar Rapids to Isaiah and Harriet (Beatty) Patten. She was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Sima on January 24, 1954 in Cedar Rapids. Tom preceded her in death on March 27, 2008. In her leisure, Phoebe enjoyed gardening, reading and crocheting. She also enjoyed watching tennis and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She is survived by her sons, Tom Sima, John (Jill) Sima, Ron (Mary Lou) Sima and Don (Jane) Sima; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Phoebe was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, granddaughter, April Sima and daughter-in-law, Jody Sima.
