Marcella Murty

VINTON: Marcella Murty, 84, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th Street, in Vinton with Pastor James Perry officiating. Interment will be held at the Garwin Cemetery in Garwin. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Friday. A Memorial Fund has been established.

Marcella was born June 28, 1926 at Garwin to John and Clara (Jensen) Uhlenberg and graduated from the Garwin High School in 1945. On March 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Murty at Hamilton Field in California.
Prior to her retirement, Marcella was employed as manager of the State Of Iowa Liquor Store in Vinton for sixteen years.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, a resident of the Keystone Care Center in Keystone; her son, John (Karen) Murty of Toledo; her daughter, Diane (Vollie) Sanders of Maple Grove, MN; her grandchildren, Annette (Jody) Kotouc of Toledo, Brad (Nicole) Murty of Conrad, Clint (Tiffany) Murty of Waterloo, Vollie "Chip" Sanders, III of Albertville, MN, and Brandon Sanders of Maple Grove, MN; her great grandchildren, Ethan Kotouc, Megan and Paul Murty and Rachael Murty.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Raymond Murty; her daughter, Sandy Murty; her brother, Paul Uhlenberg and her sister, Juanita Hickman.
