STRAWBERRY POINT - Elvin Floyd "Fuzzy" Aldridge, 87, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home following a long illness.
Elvin's body has been cremated. Graveside services with military rites will be held at the Urbana Cemetery, Urbana, Iowa, at a later date.
Elvin was born February 11, 1929, in Willmathsville, Missouri, the son of Ovie Glen and Jessie Irene Eakins Aldridge.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars and the UN Service Medal. He earned the rank of Private First Class in 1952.
Elvin was united in marriage with Lena Louise Barton in Viola, Iowa. She preceded him in death on July 16, 1984.
Elvin worked on his parents' farm as a young man. He later ran a junkyard and worked in construction.
He enjoyed fishing and junkyard treasures.
Elvin is survived by one son, Elvin Newlon of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Carrie (Mark) Smith of Marion; step-children: Mark (Connie) Newlon and Jennie Newlon of Cedar Rapids; and Cheryl Rawson of Hiawatha; one sister, Dorthey (Earl, Jr.) Schwabe of Manchester; two grandchildren: Katelyn and Blake; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; six brothers: Jack, Dale, Calvin, Basil, Dan and Carson Aldridge; and step-son Charles Newlon.
A memorial fund has been established.
