Betty Nolan, 86, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center following an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne with Father Craig Steimel as celebrant. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery near Keystone. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, also at Immaculate Conception. A memorial fund has been established. Betty was born December 5, 1931, in Keystone, to Lloyd and Helen (Jordt) Hennings and graduated from Keystone High School in 1950. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Betty was united in marriage to James “Jim” Nolan on July 21, 1953, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne. Betty was an active member of Immaculate Conception in Van Horne, where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and taught CCD. Betty enjoyed volunteering at the church, especially decorating for the seasons of the church year. She was a member of Tara Hills Country Club and was known as a fabulous cook and baker. Betty is survived by her five children, Rose (Gary) Brunssen of Dysart, Randy (Denise) Nolan of Prior Lake, Minn., Rick (Cindy) Nolan of Van Horne, Renee (Jim) Arneal of Jefferson City, Mo., and Rita (Dale) Hanlon of Carol Stream, Ill.; her grandchildren, Jeremy Brunssen, Autumn Craft, Jared Brunssen, Lindsay Hodnefield, Wyatt Nolan, Justin Nolan, Jessica Walters, Jake Nolan, Stede Welsh, Mackenzie Welsh, Jordan Hanlon and Luke Hanlon; step-grandchildren, Sarah, Jordan and Cam Arneal; 13 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; two sisters; Elaine Pippert of Keystone, Judy McIlrath of Roland; and two brothers, Denman (Gwen) Hennings of Dysart and Jack Hennings of Blakesburg.
