Rosalie "Mama Rose" Walker, 79, of Shellsburg, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at her home in Shellsburg. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor David King. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Rosalie was born Sept. 7, 1939, in Edgewood, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Floy (Clarke) Romig. She graduated from Delhi High School in 1957, and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College. On Dec. 17, 1963, Rosalie was united in marriage to Charles Walker. She was a day care provider to many for several years, worked for Cedar Rapids Janitorial and the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Rosalie was a member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed knitting hats for soldiers and homeless children. Rosalie was kind and accepting of everyone and always had a smile for you when she met you.
Rosalie is survived by her sons, Daniel (Sheila) Walker of Raymondville, Mo., and Danny C. Walker of North English; daughters, Rosemarie (David) Foubert of North English, Roxanna (Gary Hansen) Walker of Shellsburg, Denise (Chad) Arp of Garrison, Sherri Walker of Shellsburg and Stephanie (Adam) Glubka of North English; stepson, Douglas Walker; many grandchildren; and many, many great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; siblings, Darlene Sterns of Cedar Rapids and Edith LaGrange of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Peggy Romig of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Earl and Floy Romig; husband, Charles; two grandchildren, Doug and Barton; great-grandchild, Wyatt; and brother, Bill Romig.
