Obituaries : Mae Frances Kerkman

Mae Frances Kerkman, 74, formerly of Van Horne, died at her residence following a sudden illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, April 5, 2010 at Phillips Funeral Home, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Pastor Norm Bennett officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday.

Mae was born October 16, 1935 at Vinton to Ray O. and Elsie F. (Mease) Dufresne and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton. On October 29, 1955 she was united in marriage to Keith G. Kerkman at Van Horne. He preceded her in death in 1979.

For nineteen years she was employed as a finisher by Amana Furniture in Amana. Mae enjoyed reading, and playing Bingo and she adored her grandson.

She is survived by her sons, Craig E. (Melissa) Kerkman of Taiwan and Bryan K. Kerkman of Vinton; and her grandson Eric Lee Kerkman of the US Coast Guard living in Cape Cod, MA. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.
