Belva Delite Tharp Johnson Dake, 98, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Vinton Lutheran Home in Vinton, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 Am, Friday, December 7, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton with Rev. Sue Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton. She was born on September 11, 1920 in Vinton, Iowa to Frank and Hattie (Rouse) Tharp. Belva married George D. Johnson on February 8, 1941 at the Methodist Church parsonage in Davenport, Iowa. Together they had 4 sons, Gerald Donald, Carl Dean, John David and Thomas George and two daughters, Jerrel Jacueline and Kathie Ann. George and Belva were married for 25 years before he passed. Belva remarried Willis Dake of Garrison, Iowa on June 8, 1968 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton, Iowa. They made their home in Garrison. They later moved back to Vinton. They enjoyed dancing every week at the Eagles Club, going to Guttenberg and later in life the 4th Street Diner. Belva was a homemaker and worked later in life at the Virginia Gay Annex as a Ward Clerk. Belva's favorite job was working for her friends, cleaning houses. Belva is survived by her son Thomas “TJ” (Jane) Johnson and daughter Kathie Ann (Jerry) Adams. Her grandchildren, Laurie (Darrell) Werning, Dylan, Jake(Courtney) Cochran, Michael Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Megan Christianson, Nicole (Eric) Allen, Leif, Olive & Elin, Nick (Sheena) Adams & Chase, Landon, Skylar & Tenley, Stacy Ruth & Holly (Trevor) Sevey & Marcy, Lucky Wilson, Savannah Wilson, Angelica Ruth, Tracey (Dan) Podhajsky, Zade and Drake; her step-children, Eva Lee Fennern, Carol Rehder, and son-in-law Robert Beyer. Her step-grandchildren, Robyn (Ken) Quamme & Eric, Jack Fennern, Mickie Toomer, Debra Wilde, Joe Fennern and Shari (Gary) Wendel, Erin(Michael) Sargentson & Christian, Brooke (Brian) Barnett & Dawson, Delainy and Conor and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Dorthey Johnson and several nieces and nephews. Belva was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, George D. Johnson and Willis Dake; her brothers, Russel, Leonard and Carl Tharp; sisters, Gretchen Geiger, Evalyn Williams; her babies, Gerald Donald, Jerrel Jacueline, Carl Dean and John David and her step-daughter, LaVonne Beyer and Timmy.
