Sally Donald, 75, of Van Horne, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.

On July 21, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart Ron Donald. While giving birth to their first child, she said to the doctor, "I think there's another one" and she was right! They were blessed with twin boys. In addition to taking care of her children, she provided daycare as well. When the family settled in Van Horne, Iowa, she started working at Rockwell Collins. After retiring from Rockwell, she worked part time at Benton Community High School as a paraprofessional and secretary. Sally liked to stay busy and accomplished that by volunteering for many different organizations. She was a first responder with the Van Horne First Responders. At her local church, Salem United Methodist, she was the treasurer and also the Vacation Bible School coordinator for many years. With the Lions Club, she held the positions of secretary and president of the Van Horne Chapter and was the cabinet secretary for District 9/8. Additionally, she was a Kids Sight screener and coordinator for many years. Sally volunteered at the Van Horne Library and was a member of the Benton County Relay for Life and American Cancer Society. Sally also volunteered in Cedar Rapids at St. Luke's Hospital and helped during the flood relief of '08. While wintering in south Texas, she was active in her Lemon Tree Estates Community as the president of Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the board of directors. At the local Immigrant Relief Center she was a volunteer as well.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Donald; children, Shawn (Kristi), Lon and Ronda (Matt) Streit; four grandchildren, Zach (Kyran), Ben Streit, Courtney, and Chris Streit; siblings, Jean (Jim), Janet (Alan) Maas, Judy Kaye Andrew, John (Judy) Andrew, Debbie (John) Stitt and Tammy (Mike) Spencer; brother-in-law, Gary (Theresa); sister-in-law, Connie; and many more loving family and friends.
