BLOOMER, WI:
Ellen Hokenson Schrader, 96, of Bloomer, WI and formerly of Van Horne died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Bloomer, WI. Public visitation will be from 2 to 4 PM, Sunday, January 2, 2010 at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Private Committal services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown. Funeral Services were also held in Bloomer, WI.
Ellen was born June 14, 1914 in Vestre Toten, Norway to Anton and Anna Hokenson. She traveled to New York with her brother Alfred, then traveling to Mildale, Saskatchewan, Canada and later moved to St. Paul, MN where she graduated from high school. She then moved to Cedar Rapids where she met and married George Schrader. The couple farmed together in the Van Horne area for many years until George's death.
Ellen was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Van Horne for many years prior to moving to Bloomer, WI to be near her daughter Connie Madorin and her family. She was a hard working mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be missed by her family and friends.
Ellen is survived by her daughters, Connie (Jim) Madorin of Bloomer, WI and Donna Mae (Charles) Meyer of Savannah, IL; four grandsons, James B. (Diane) Madorin, Scott A. (Tammy) Madorin, Thomas C. (Patti) Madorin and Jamie L. Meyer; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Mae Winnie of Des Moines and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by her brother Alfred.
