Larry W. Lutz, 83, formerly of Van Horne and Guttenberg, passed away Jan. 16, 2022. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 2900 Hoover Ave., Ames, Iowa. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. The Mass will be livestreamed and a link will be available on the Tribute Wall of Larry's obituary on the Adams Funeral Home website.

In May 1964, he married his loving wife, Mary, and they spent 57 years together making wonderful memories. Together they had two children.

Larry spent 13 years working as an adjuster agent for IMT Insurance. From there, he went on to run his own insurance agency along with his wife, Mary. He truly enjoyed the independence of running his own business. This allowed him to be out among his clients. Many whom were farmers. Larry loved being able to go back to his roots to help them during harvest time by driving tractors or trucks.

He had a love to travel from Hawaii to Germany to Tahiti. If there was water nearby, he was in a boat and on it with Mary by his side. When not on the water, you could find him in the basement rebuilding toy tractors and pedal tractors. Truly a kid at heart. His love of wheels didn't end there, he loved cars too. And was able to pass this appreciation on to his children. Larry loved to fly on the water or down the road.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughters, Brigitte Drew and husband John of South Natick, Mass., and Amy Ripp and husband Michael of Huxley; and his grandchildren, Brenna Ripp and Jack and David Drew.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric.
