Donald John Welch, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Heritage Specialty Care following a short illness. Graveside Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Cemetery by Pastor Mark Thomas.
Donald is survived by his sons, Allen (Kay) Welch of Shellsburg and Rev. David (Becky) Harwood of Midland, TX; 2 grandsons, Nathan (Corley) Welch and John (Cassidy) Welch.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; brother, Carl White; and two sisters, Merle Ann Richards and Marie Joseph.
Donald was born on August 25, 1931 in Nebraska, son of George and Nellie White Welch. He married Myrtle Elliott on October 5, 1958 in Nampa, ID. Donald was a dairy farmer in Idaho, later worked at Iowa Manufacturing and finally in housekeeping for St. Luke's Hospital, retiring in 1995. He was a faithful member of Central Assembly of God Church.
Donald enjoyed gardening and was lovingly known as the "Lawn Mower Man."
