Susan "Sue" Kay Crawford was born on July 24, 1954, in Waterloo, the daughter of Robert and Marjorie (Kopriva) Kriz. Sue attended Dysart-Geneseo High School and graduated in 1972. While in high school, she was very active in many sports. On October 27, 1973, Sue was united in marriage to Rick Crawford. The couple made their home in Dysart where they raised their family. Sue and Rick farmed and raised livestock near Dysart for many years. She enjoyed gardening, playing golf, going for golf cart rides with her dog, Beener, watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending as much time with her family as possible. Sue was very passionate about helping others. She was so caring and thoughtful to everyone around her. She loved to make people smile and was the life of the party. Sue died at the age of 68 at home surrounded by her family, following a battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; and her in-laws, Richard and Betty Crawford. Sue is survived by her mother, Marjorie of Dysart; 3 children, Kirk (Amy) Crawford of Dysart, Kamie Hurley of Cedar Falls, and Kelli Crawford of Coralville, 5 grandchildren, Kody and Kolten Crawford and Madison, Kayla, and Rylan Hurley; 2 sisters, Judy (Rex) Raub of Dysart and Mary Freese of Cedar Falls; a brother, Kendall (Brenda) Kriz of Dysart; a sister-in-law, Rita Schofield of Prior Lake, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The memorial service will be on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 10:30 AM, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer. The burial will be held in Dysart Cemetery following luncheon.
