George Edward Cleppe, 76, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away May 2, 2023, surrounded by family, at St. Luke's Hospital due to complications after surgery.
George was born July 15, 1946 to Cyril and Catherine Cleppe. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1964. George continued his education at the University of Iowa, earning a degree in engineering. In 1968, George joined the U.S. Army.
George enjoyed playing cards and reading non-fiction books. Most of all he loved spending time with family.
Those to mourn his loss are his sisters, Barb (Marvin) Novotny of Newhall, Nancy (Clark) Gordon of Storm Lake; brothers, David (Connie) Cleppe of Batavia, Dale Cleppe of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Justin Cleppe; and great nephew, Spenser Cleppe.
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, with a Time for Sharing at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn, IA with Military Honors.
