Obituaries : Marilyn June Rethman

Marilyn June Rethman, 91, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away May 5, 2023 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.

Marilyn was born September 27, 1930 to Floyd and Verna (Allen) Henkle in Belle Plaine, IA. She attended Buckeye Country School and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Following school, she was trained in office management, learning how to keep book, eventually working for Funk's and later Iowa Electric. Marilyn also worked was a sales representative for Avon.

In 1950 Marilyn met Richard Rethman and the couple were married on October 14, 1957 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Raising their family and making their home in Belle Plaine.

Marilyn enjoyed cats, birds, and growing flowers. She cherished her time with family and caring for her grandchildren.

She was a member of the Belle Plaine American Legion Auxiliary.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard Rethman of Belle Plaine; sons, Rick Rethman of Wellman, Randy (Mary) Rethman of Belle Plaine; friend, Deb Rethman of Millersburg; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; along with many more family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and infant grandchild.

Private family service will take place. Memorials may be directed to the family.
