Obituaries : Russell L. Tollefson Sr.

Russell L. Tollefson Sr., 71, passed away August 7, 2023 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, IA.

Russell was born April 28, 1952 to Ernest and Nina (Thorson) Tollefson. He attended Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Following school, Russ enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam War. Upon his return he moved to Cedar Rapids and worked odd jobs before his career as a truckdriver and later worked for Foster Heating and Cooling.

Russ enjoyed fishing, riding horses in his youth, listening to country music and dancing. He was a member of AMVETS.

He is survived by his son, Russell Jr. of Central City; brother, Wayne of Central City; sister, Cheryl (Dennis) Choate of Norway, grandchildren, Hailey and Taylor of Glendale, AZ and many more family and friends.

Russ is preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of life will take place at a later date.
