Delores May Janss, 94, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away September 3, 2023 at Keystone Care Center.

Delores was born December 23, 1928 to Eldo and Idella (Gwecke) Meyer. She attended country school in rural Benton County and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Following school, Delores worked for a local dentist office. On February 27, 1949 she married Thomas Janss at the First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine. Delores worked for many years alongside her husband at Janss Locker Plant. Later she worked for her daughter at the Kirkwood Center in Belle Plaine.

In her younger years Delores played piano, organ and could yodel. She was a great cook and a skilled seamstress, sewing many of her children's clothes. Delores genuinely cared for others; always putting the needs of family and friends first. She was the "go to" in times you needed a good listener and support. Delores cherished her time caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She showed patience in all she did.

She was a member for First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine.

Delores is survived by her children, Christine (Wayne) Wickwire, Charlotte (Dennis) Whitsell, Cynthia (James) Jacobi, Scott (Jane) Janss; grandchildren, Holly (Doug) Gates, Heather (Jeff) Coover, Tiffany (Toby) Torstenson, Ashley (Bill) Walton, Brady (Marissa Kienast) Jacobi, Justin Janss, Brandon (Kourtney) Janss, Taylor (Jason) Wagaman, Bryce Janss; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jacy, Sheldon, Kennedy, Chayse, Sydney, Dawson, Walker, Colton, Camella, Caden, Cody, Kinsley, Kael, Ellison, Harrison, Laila, Jude and one on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas (1993); grandchildren, Kyle and Christopher Janss, Sydna Whitsell, Blake Jacobi; granddaughter-in-law, Paige Jacobi; and sister, Gayle Janss.

Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
