Gilbert L. Hansen, 92, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Virginia Gay Hospital, following complications of COPD. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dennis Morey officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Gilbert and his family.

Gilbert was born September 28, 1931, in Goldfield, the son of Gilbert and Beatrice (Lister) Hansen, Sr. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Vinton. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. On February 2, 1952, Gilbert was united in marriage to Rosean Duncklee at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton. Through correspondence courses, Gilbert became an accountant. He was then self-employed at Hansen Accounting where he remained until 2019.

In his leisure time, Gilbert enjoyed fishing, carpentry work, being a member of card club for 60+ years, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoying the friendships he made through his accounting business. He was a former member of Vinton Kiwanis, Iowa Accounting Association and a lifetime member of the Vinton Presbyterian Church where he served in various positions.

Left to cherish Gilbert's memory are his wife of nearly 72 years, Rosean of Vinton; four sons: Matt (Stacy) of Robins, Jeff (Jo Ellen) of Indianapolis, IN, Mark (Dawn) of Robins, and Jim (Ashley) of Centennial, CO; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Keith (Barbara) Hansen of Hampton; and sister-in-law, Susie Hansen of Vinton.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Willis Hansen.
